Holiday update!

We interrupt this vacation to welcome 2 new characters to the pages of Dr. Grumpy:

Garlic and Onion!

These are a pair of 7 year-old brother-sister litter mates who have never been separated. Their previous owner was unable to keep them and took them to a rescue, and now they've joined us. We only went to look at one, but taking them both was part of the deal, and how could we resist?

We have no real idea what they are, besides totally awesome dogs.

Mello is doing fine with them.

Remember, if you're looking for a great family friend this holiday, contact a rescue or humane society near you.

They look like cockapoos! But they can't read, and no one else cares!

They are adorable. Mazal tov on your new family members!

They'd be what we Pixxburghers call a "Heinz 57 Dog".

Happy Dog Adoption. Were those name the ones they came with or did someone give them new names?

Like someone else said, Shih Tzu or Shih Tzu mixes. Our dog is likely starting to die of cancer (she's had it for 6 years and she's 7, almost) so we're going to get another pet super quick because my other dog does not do well alone. We might get him a cat.

Named after their breath? ;D

I knew you had a big heart Ibee! Thank you for not splitting these siblings up and for giving them a forever home!

Look like Shih Tzu mixes perhaps! Cute underbite! Generous heart (you, and them, usually!)

I just spent the 2nd night of Hanukkah with friends and their new rescue dog. In they company of 4 legged friends is a fine way to spend Hanukkah, or any day. Mazel Tov.

For anyone looking, my friends had a very good experience with a shelter that employs a behaviorist. My friends have acquired many rescue animals over the years and said this was, by far, their best experience. With much credit to the psychological profile for each animal, and the matching process which, while frustrating at the time, matched them with a dog who was great for them from day one.

So proud of you! We have two shelter dogs, too, and they are the best dogs we have ever owned but I have to say, Cesar Milan helped us with that, too. Yours are definitely some sort of Shih Tzu mixes. I had a Shih Tzu given to me years ago named Typhoon Oscar. He was a nut, in a good way.

Thank you very much for rescuing those lovely puppers.

Wishing the best to you and your new furry family members!

Congratulations! I'm so happy for your family, and especially for those two lucky dogs. And way to go Mello, for welcoming them with grace.

You know - I am amazed how many times folks act like I am rude for calling our dog Heinz 57 or mutt. Mutts seem to make nice pets.

Lovely critters (regardless of breed) and lovely hearts. My favorite part was realizing that the good Dr, not only came in to share pics, but also updated the 'cast of characters.'

Love the names!! And bless you and your family for adopting!
One word of ~ not warning, but maybe caution ~ make sure you train them separately. And make sure they have separte bonding times with each family member.

Mazel Tov!

Thank you for re-homing these not-so-young dogs and for being a champion of shelter animals - you rock!
